What would you say is the text’s surface message? In other words, what would you say is the text’s main purpose? Sunglasses hide a person's eyes from the world, making it so that people can not connect with them.
What additional, perhaps mixed, messages does this text reveal upon closer examination? That the person is wanting people to not see them or to feel a certain stage of coolness.
Identify the features of the object that are crucial in your analysis. Darkness, the tint makes perspectives change for both sides.
Identify examples of important choices of design elements, such as but not limited to, words, color, and symbolism which help the designer get the main message across. The style tells wether a person likes simplicity or brands. Color what tint the person prefers.
What is the intended audience for this text? How do you fit into it? The audience is all people that have sunglasses. I have a pair of Dolce and Gabanna sunglasses, I wear them when I want to pimp it out.
2. A pair of sunglasses may be made to protect a pair of eyes from the sun, but they really completely flip peoples perspectives on the world and change the connections that are created.

Casey, if the central message in sunglasses was “I hide the wearer’s identity”, why would we still call them SUNglasses?:-) It seems that people wear started wearing them as disguise from the sun and only later started using them as disguise from other people. This distinction is important because nowadays there are plenty of fashionable sunglasses that people use for their decorative purposes more than out of concern for their eyes. Also, it is very important that you give detailed attention to a specific pair of eyeglasses (your D&G, for example) and analyze the features that reflect whether it is high quality protective eyewear or only a tribute to current fashion. Are they big or small? Do they protect your eyes even from the brightest sun? Do they sit comfortably on your face? Then you can move to the elements of disguise from human factor (darkness, size, etc). Lastly, since you mention that your glasses are Dolche&Gabanna rather than a CVS generic, the name and style of the designer might bring additional things to consider. Is this item affordable? Is it in latest style? How reliable and durable are these glasses for all three purposes?
